Calling all pooch lovers! It's time for Mutt Madness!

Project POOCH has made it into the final four of Rachael Ray's Mutt Madness competition! 

Project POOCH is a non-profit dog adoption program, based in Lake Oswego, for youth offenders and shelter dogs at MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn.

Every week the public votes on their favorite shelters in a bracket-style competition based on NCAA March Madness brackets; top prize is $50,000, second prize $25,000.

For every week Project POOCH stays in the competition, it earn $1,000 for the program.

However they are seeing more upper respiratory infections.

Get out to see 'A Christmas Carol' in Lake Oswego

The Lake Oswego Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will host a production of Charles Dickens’ classic musical “A Christmas Carol” starting with an opening night performance at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, at 14903 S.W. Westlake Drive, Lake Oswego.

There will be a matinee show at 12:20 p.m. on Nov. 21.

The play is free and open to the public.

New bank opens in Lake Oswego

Banner Bank has opened a new branch in Lake Oswego, according to a story on bizjournals.com.

The branch, which will be managed by Alan Smith, is located at 412 A Ave. in Lake Oswego.

Thousands of area homes without power due to storm

New numbers are in from Portland General Electric.

The power company says it has 2,300 customers without power after an overnight storm and most of the customers are in Clackamas County.

Pacific Power reports about 3,500 homes it serves are without power. Most of those homes are in Clatsop County.

Clackamas County to open H1N1 clinic Nov. 17

The Clackamas County Health Department will open its H1N1 flu vaccination clinic from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17 to distribute the vaccine to priority groups. All forms of vaccine will be available.

The clinic is located at 168 Warner-Milne Road in Oregon City, on the county’s Red Soils campus. The site is next to the OSU extension building and diagonally across from the entrance to Portland General Electric.

Heritage Tree dedication set for Nov. 20

Join the Heritage Tree Dedication under the stately limbs of living heritage, starting at the Oregon White Oak at 1305 Cornell Street, then continuing at the European White Birch at 1117 Spruce Street at 4 p.m. on Nov. 20 in Lake Oswego.

Lake Oswego hoops star signs to play at Montana

Lake Oswego High School junior Billy Reader signed a National Letter of Intent recently to play basketball and attend the University of Montana the university announced Nov. 11.

A 6-9, 220-pound center-forward, Reader averaged 10.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game last year and shot 63 percent from the field. His head coach at Lake Oswego High School was Mark Shoff.

Reader, from Hillsboro, turns 18 next June, he is projected to grow to 6-10 or 6-11.

Applications being accepted for the 2010 Rose Festival Court
