Lake Oswego vs. Sprague game canceled, too many sick kids

Salem's Sprague High School has been rocked by a bug that forced the cancellation of its big game at Lake Oswego High School Friday night.

Hundreds of kids at Sprague have come down sick and there just aren't enough players for the game.

The school's athletic director, Mark Risen, said it's unclear whether it's the swine flu but it hit the football team especially hard.  No other sports teams at the school have had to cancel events.

Lake Oswego's coach, Steve Coury, said in his nearly two decades of coaching, he has never had a game canceled because of such widespread sickness.

This was a big matchup between two playoff-bound teams so the decision to cancel it wasn't made lightly.
